May Update + New Screenshots

Hi all, it's been a little over a month since I released the April devlog for REPEAT IT BACK TO ME, so it's time for another update on where I'm at with the game.

What Have I Been Doing?

In my April devlog, I stated that I'd be revamping the UI for REPEAT IT BACK TO ME. You can see the updated UI in the screenshots below. I think they're neat!

In the previous devlog, I also announced that I'd be releasing some new music previous for REPEAT IT BACK TO ME. You can listen to them below. I've written a few more pieces, but I'll be waiting until release to show all of these off.

Over the past month, I've also been working on new illustrations for REPEAT IT BACK TO ME. At the moment, I have made a little over 30 illustrations (including some character sprites.) The whole game has been roughly illustrated with the exception of a few moments which I think could use an additional illustration or two. Here are some of the new backgrounds:

Finally, I've done some revisions and edits for the script. I can't show any of this work off yet (unfortunately!), but overall I'm quite happy with how the final script is shaping up.

How Much is Left

Here's my current checklist for what I still have to do:

  • Finalize Script
  • Additional Illustrations (both character sprites and backgrounds)
  • Music Work (both writing the tracks and implementing them into the game)
  • UI Menu and Title Screen Adjustments
  • Playtesting and Polish

Right now, I would say that the bulk of REPEAT IT BACK TO ME is done, or very close to being done. There's a little bit of work left to be done everywhere, but I think I prefer this to being completely done with the writing and having not started the music, for example. The game is roughly fully playable from start to end.

Release Date Thoughts

I'm (somewhat optimistically) hoping to release REPEAT IT BACK TO ME by the end of June, but we'll see what happens. At the very least, I should be able to announce a release date by the end of next month.

What Else Have I Been Up To?

Last week, I took a short break from developing REPEAT IT BACK TO ME to create PLATINUM WHITE, a game jam entry for Godot Wild Jam #69. Here's the blurb I wrote for the game:

You have less than 8 minutes to remember what you can. It won't be enough time to remember everything. Run around and explore a lonely landscape or sit in the same spot, waiting. The Platinum White will come either way.

This was my first time making a 3D game and my first original soundtrack that I've released for a game. You can view the trailer for PLATINUM WHITE below:

Over the past 2 weeks, I've also put together a personal website, which you can visit here: https://skyshard.carrd.co/. I've started taking commissions (both for personal and commercial work), so be sure to check my site for the most up to date information on pricing and send me a message if you're interested!

Thanks,

Sky
